{"id":116,"date":"2007-08-17T03:34:34","date_gmt":"2007-08-17T02:34:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/people.iola.dk\/arj\/2007\/08\/17\/the-future-of-c\/"},"modified":"2008-03-05T02:16:25","modified_gmt":"2008-03-05T01:16:25","slug":"the-future-of-c","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/people.iola.dk\/arj\/2007\/08\/17\/the-future-of-c\/","title":{"rendered":"The future of C++"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently I&#8217;ve been looking a lot into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boost.org\" title=\"boost\">boost<\/a> and it&#8217;s really a <a href=\"http:\/\/people.iola.dk\/arj\/2007\/07\/27\/its-all-the-little-things\/\" title=\"foreach boost\">great<\/a> set of libraries. Although the syntax of some of the libraries could use a helping hand (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boost.org\/libs\/assign\/doc\/index.html\">assign library<\/a>). Luckily I was watching a presentation by Bjarne Stroustrup on the next C++ standard and it appears that they will finally add a way to construct containers such as vectors with elements as construction time. I think it was called initializer lists and the syntax was the following:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"prettyprint\">\r\n      vector<int> v {1,2,3}\r\n<\/int><\/pre>\n<p>So you can now initialize them just like regular arrays \ud83d\ude42  Furthermore it appears that we&#8217;ll get threads and perhaps a common filesystem + network abstraction.
